Ciao, I’m Umberto

Professional Background

Originally trained as a psychologist in Italy, I later specialised in Cognitive Constructivist Psychotherapy before moving to the UK, where I qualified as a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and CBT Supervisor. I have over 20 years' experience working across the NHS, GP practices, trauma services and private practice, supporting adults with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties and emotional wellbeing. My work now integrates CBT, EMDR, mindfulness and attachment-informed psychotherapy to provide evidence-based, compassionate care.

The Person Beyond the Therapy Room

I grew up in Sicily, Italy and then moved to the UK where I continued to train and practice as a therapist for 16 years, so I work in both English and Italian. I love languages so I’m also learning Spanish . I'm married and the proud father of twin daughters, who remind me daily about curiosity, resilience and finding joy in life's simple moments. I enjoy both playing and watching football, practising martial arts and yoga, playing the guitar, and enjoying good food. For many years I’ve practised mindfulness and explored the connection between psychology, spirituality and personal growth. These interests continue to give shape and meaning both to my life and the way I support others.

My therapeutic approach

I believe therapy is about far more than reducing symptoms. Lasting change comes from understanding how our experiences have shaped us, developing self-awareness and creating new ways of relating to ourselves and others.

My approach combines evidence-based therapies such as CBT and EMDR with attachment theory, mindfulness and compassion, creating a safe, collaborative space where clients can process difficult experiences, build resilience and move towards a more fulfilling life.
